Permanent Recruitment

Recruiting new employees is an extremely important and a highly resource-intensive task, which takes significant periods of time to find, select and assess suitable candidates. PSG’s dedicated permanent recruitment team has access to a high quality candidate network that have been interviewed in person and thoroughly referenced. This recruitment process means PSG has a good supply of candidates and will give you confidence to fill a role in a timely manner, helping keep productivity high and alleviating any pressure on your existing team.

Alternatively, clients can hire a candidate on a “Temp to Perm” basis to retain flexibility for as long as possible through an initial temporary hire.

Temporary and contracting

Many companies require temporary staff to maintain existing roles while other employees are absent, to provide assistance in positions that have developed as their business demand has grown or to retain flexibility on permanent vacancy by hiring “Temp to Perm”.

Given the nature of temporary recruitment, we understand the importance of speed, availability, quality and communication of candidates. When a vacancy needs to be filled immediately it is vital to find a suitable employee who can easily step into a position and help an organisation run efficiently and can provide cost savings to your business. PSG’s recruitment process enables you to do this.

Executive search

Primarily used for positions above $150,000, PSG Executive Search is conducted when our corporate clients retain us to actively find (or “search”) the most suitable executive level candidate for a key, high-level position in the organisation. Typically the candidates we approach are not actively seeking a new opportunity, therefore you will be assigned a specialist, high networked consultant who will be dedicated to the search & selection process for your requirement. PSG can offer this service for executive level positions across all industries. We can further access candidates beyond our existing networks by advertising on our client’s behalf. We will consult with you and determine its relevance on a case-by-case basis. Typically it will be most appropriate when the best candidate could be selected from a range of locations or sectors.

PSG’s in depth recruitment process ensures we meet our clients staffing requirements in an accurate and timely manner. To enable this to happen our experienced consultants carry out the following processes prior to being engaged by a client for an assignment:

Pre-screening
This is the first line of communication between our consultants and the candidate. Pre-screening is a telephone interview, which enables our consultant’s to listen to how well the candidate can communicate their knowledge and experiences as outlined on their CV. If our consultant’s deem the candidate to be detailed and accurate with their answers they will be invited into our offices for a face-to-face interview.
Face-to-face interview
This process is an in-depth evaluation of the candidate’s background, work history and technical skills. It is important for our consultants to find out about our candidates motivations and expectations in this current business climate. This process offers the consultant a chance to consult and provide advice to the candidate on their career aspirations. It is also important as it enables consultants to match not only the technical skills of the candidate but also identify the culture fit between the candidate and our clients.
Reference check
This is a vital process in ensuring that candidates are ‘who they say they are’ and identifying that they have successfully proven themselves to a previous line manager. PSG are committed to taking a minimum of two references for each candidate represented. References provide confidence in both the consultants representing the candidate and clients who are considering the candidate for a position in their organisation.
Client meeting
At PSG we know the importance of understanding the clients business in detail, even before a new staffing need. Therefore, our consultants will aim to meet the key personnel to start building a business relationship using our Core Values.

Our recruitment differentiators

PSG recognises the necessity to react to a clients staffing need in a timely and efficient manner. We can offer the following unique recruitment techniques that will save our clients time in their recruitment process:

Consultation rotation
This involves 2 consultants on the temporary division working together in a weekly consultant rotation, where one consultant is responsible for sourcing immediately available, highly skilled candidates, while the other consultant focuses on business development with clients. This system allows a consultant to always be knowledgeable of a fast paced, changing candidate market in any given week. Therefore, if you have a need for a particular candidate for an immediate start and the consultant you normally deal with is not in the office, the other consultant in rotation will always be on call to assist with this need, resulting in a quick and fluid turnaround.
Trial day
This is when our temporary division organises for a candidate to work a full day with the client on a trial basis rather than setting up a traditional face-to-face interview. This allows the client to spend a whole day with the candidate, assessing both technical skills and cultural fit with other staff members. If the trial day is a success, the candidate simply continues on for the remainder of the temporary assignment. If in the unlikely event the candidate is unsuccessful, the day will be at no charge to the client and PSG will provide a replacement.
External interview
This process is used when a client has a permanent staffing need. It involves the client coming into our offices to carry out the first interview stage with candidates back-to-back in half hour slots. PSG will provide the client with CV’s of each candidate and will also be responsible for taking the candidate feedback after each interview has taken place. Once all interviews have been completed the consultant will give the candidates feedback to the client before discussing the clients feedback. This process gives the client a clear comparison between each candidate they have interviewed and allows the client to select a shortlist for second interview at their own offices. Typically, the external interview is carried out either early morning or late afternoon as it allows the client to continue with their working day without disruption.
